ABILENE – The thrill of victory and agony of defeat is a tough lesson to learn in life. The Floydada Futures experienced both in a 14-hour time period with an exciting win Friday night before falling to Waco Midway 14-0 in the Texas West State championship game on Saturday morning.

It was an incredible Little League playoff journey for the Floydada Futures of going 9-2 in the past 30 days. The only team to hold an upper hand was a powerful Midway team from Central Texas that did not allow a run by any opponent in the Texas West tournament.

Midway will now advance to the Little League Southwest Regional tourney in their hometown that will include three champions from Texas, plus the best from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico.

It is very evident that Floydada’s future is bright in softball. The Futures have been described by long-time youth coaches Erica and Ray Perez as a group that is coachable, determined, disciplined and cohesive.
