FLOYDADA – As the next school year approaches, Texas 4-H has started a drive to support students returning to the classroom in Uvalde following a May 24 shooting at an elementary school there.
The drive is gathering backpacks for Uvalde CISD students, and Floyd County’s 4-H is taking part in the statewide collection.
The goal is to gather 2000 backpacks statewide. Donations of backpacks or money are being accepted at the Texas AgriLife Extension Office in downtown Floydada through Friday. In Lockney, residents can turn backpacks in to Kaileigh Cook at Lockney Elementary on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
