LUBBOCK, TX – What started as calling around to convenience stores to find final scores on a Friday night has grown into the largest high school football scoreboard show in Texas.

Celebrating 27 years under the “Friday Night Lights,” the West Texas Friday Night Scoreboard Show returns tomorrow night (the 326th episode) with hosts Steven Orr and Mark Finkner.

Orr, a 20-year resident of Floyd County, and Finkner, a native of Petersburg, provide scores and highlights from around 200 varsity games in a region best described as “everything west of I-35, north of I-10, in the Central time zone”, to a potential audience of more than 1.5-million listeners.

Still, the show has come a long way from its humble beginnings in downtown Floydada to its new studios in Lubbock and can now be heard live on more than 50 radio stations, including Floyd County stations 900AM and 106.1FM.

Catch the Scoreboard every Friday night following the broadcast of Floydada Whirlwind football (here), with Randell Sims on 106.1FM and the Lockney Longhorns, with Tucker Lowrance on KFLP-HD2 (here).
