FLOYD COUNTY – It was a mixed night for Floyd County’s two high schools as the Floydada Whirlwinds notched a victory while the Lockney Longhorns opened their season with a loss.
The Whirlwinds topped the Ralls Jackrabbits by a 34-6 score to spoil the Rabbits’ home opener.
Meanwhile in Lockney the Longhorns ran into a wall known as the Seagraves Eagles, who beat them at Mitchell-Zimmerman Stadium by a 30-0 score.
Next up for the two teams is the annual Floyd County Championship. That game will take place Friday, September 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Charles Tyer Stadium.
