FLOYDADA – “There are some great things going on in the district.”
That’s how FCISD Superintendent Gilbert Trevino ended Tuesday evening’s Board of Trustees meeting. From a growing body of 690 students to new athletic feats, Trevino is pleased with where the district is heading.
During the meeting district principals Monica Smith and Dara Ware recognized a number of students and educators for keeping the “Whirlwind Way” during the previous month. First Grade Teacher Teysha Cornelius and students Michael Segura, Noni Ramirez and Lakyn Rawls were honored by Smith. Sixth Grader Lyric Taylor, Eighth Grader DJ Sanchez, Freshman Pea Shuping and Senior Brett Brittain, as well as FCHS Support Staffer Marisela Baltazar were honored by Ware.
The board also agreed to the district’s partnership with SPCAA Head Start for Pre-K Services for the 2023-2024 school year. Under the agreement Head Start will give the district just over $128,000 for 31 students.
The board also heard from Sonya Glass on the district’s current tax collections. The district is collecting 98.7 percent of taxes currently due, a slight drop from 98.9 in October 2021, but still significantly close.
The board will next meet on November 8 at 7:00 p.m.
