CANYON, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds (6-4, 3-2) will battle against the Panhandle Panthers (8-2, 4-1) Friday night in the first round of the 2A Division I playoffs.
With one of the best offenses in the state, the Panthers have outscored their opponents this season 501-169.
The Whirlwinds are coming off one of their better seasons in recent years, and look to snap the first-round curse.
The last time the Whirlwinds made it to the second round of the playoffs was in 1981, when they beat Tahoka 16-0.
