WASHINGTON, DC – With the change of control in the House of Representatives next year, permanent use of Daylight Saving Time (DST) could be coming.

A bill introduced by Alabama Senator and former Texas Tech football head coach Tommy Tuberville passed the Senate earlier this year by voice vote (i.e., with no opposition). Still, leadership in the House has not brought it up for consideration. So next session, the Coach – as he likes to be referred to – will reintroduce the measure that will eliminate the time changes in March and November, establishing DST as the official nationwide standard in the hope a Republican-led House will follow.

Of course, this would not affect current time zones like Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific, but would provide the country with “later days” all year long by eliminating Standard time.

This is just one story uncovered by Tony St. James and AllAgNews during the 2022 Fall DC Capitol Ag Tour in our nation’s Capitol. Click here to see all the interviews with Senators from Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Arkansas, Alabama, and Mississippi.
