LOCKNEY, TX – Rural communities are home to 61 million people in this country. According to the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) provide an economic engine that powers the rest of the country.

President Joe Biden proclaimed November 17, 2022, as National Rural Health Day, a day for recommitting to “delivering quality, affordable health care to every zip code in America by making insurance and prescription drugs more affordable, expanding mental health and substance use disorder services, and by keeping rural facilities open and staffed with dedicated doctors, nurses, and other health professionals.”

As part of that celebration, W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital was recognized with a 2022 Performance Leadership Award from the Chartis Center for Rural Health for excellence in Patient Perspective.

The award honors the top 25 percent of rural hospitals based on quality, outcomes, and patient perspective.

“This award is confirmation of the hard work and excellent service provided by our physicians, advance practice providers, and staff,” stated Vince DiFranco, CEO of Mangold. “This national recognition is a reflection of the data gathered from our patient surveys. We are proud to be one of 18 hospitals in Texas and the only hospital in our area to receive this award.”

The Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance, which measures and monitors performance across several areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“Although the last two years have placed unprecedented pressure on the rural health safety net, the dedication to serving the community that we’re so accustomed to seeing from rural hospitals across the country hasn’t wavered,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader for Chartis.
