LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney General Hospital District holds its monthly meeting on Wednesday (January 4, 2023) at noon, the first of the new year.

Board members will hear about how W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital performed during November with statistics and a financial update.

In addition, those present will hear an update on financing a new CT scanning machine. According to the Mayo Clinic, “a computerized tomography (CT) scan combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles around your body and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images (slices) of the bones, blood vessels and soft tissues inside your body. CT scan images provide more detailed information than plain X-rays do.”

The new equipment comes with a price tag of $361,000, but recent cash donations and awards from the Lockney Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Floyd County Commissioners Court, and an investment by the hospital district have reduced the amount needed to about $200,000.

Installation of the new medical device is expected to happen this spring.
