FLOYD COUNTY, TX – A large win project in Floyd and Briscoe counties is now under new ownership after an end-of-year acquisition by the Canadian firm, Boralex.

The Longhorn project is one of five that EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) sold last Thursday, totaling 447 megawatts (MW) in Texas and New Mexico for $249.8 million (USD).

In 2015 EDFR sold a 50 percent interest in the project to a fund managed by BlackRock’s Infrastructure Investment Group, so Boralex became the managing member of the partnership.

According to Boralex, the acquisition will increase their presence in the United States and entry into the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) and SPP (Southwest Power Pool) energy markets.

The Longhorn project spanning 33,000 acres in Floyd and Briscoe counties, was developed and constructed by Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES) and is comprised of 100 Vestas V-100 wind turbine generators with a rated capacity of 2 MW each.
