SUDAN, TX – The #12-ranked Floydada Whirlwinds (31-5, 13-1) traveled to Sudan to play the Hornets (1-18, 1-13) on Tuesday in their final district game of the season.

The Whirlwinds were able to take complete control of the game in the first quarter as they went on a 29-4 run.

The second quarter was much of the same, as the Whirlwinds would go into the locker room for halftime with a 54–15 lead.

Floydada would put up a game-high 40 points in the third quarter to maintain their lead of 94-20.

In the fourth quarter, the Winds were able to close the game out and finish their district campaign with a win over Sudan, 120-26.

With the win on Tuesday, the Whirlwinds set a school record for most wins in a season with 31 and are also the co-district champions.

The previous record was held by the 2007 Whirlwinds’ team, which went 30-2 and played in the regional championship game but was defeated by Jim Ned 65-61.

The Whirlwinds will play the Olton Mustangs in a playoff seeding game on Friday to determine the #1 and #2 seeds.
