AMARILLO, TX – On Friday, the Floydada Lady Winds (19-12, 9-5) faced the #9-ranked Gruver Lady Hounds (25-5, 10-0) in the second round of the playoffs, falling 60-40.
The Lady Hounds were able to jump out to an early lead over the Lady Winds in the first quarter as they led 19-13.
Gruver was able to extend their lead before halftime as they went up 35-25.
Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter as the Lady Hounds maintained the lead, 42-31.
Gruver’s defense would hold the Lady Winds to only 9 points in the fourth quarter as they secured the victory 60-40.
Floydada was led in scoring by junior Zay Santos with 16 points.
