FLOYDADA, TX – The Lockney Longhorns traveled to battle the Floydada Whirlwinds in a district game on Tuesday.
In the top of the first inning, the Longhorns were able to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
Both teams were scoreless for the next three innings, but the Longhorns would strike again in the top of the fifth inning, to extend their lead to 4-0.
Floydada found themselves down 5-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, and with the bases loaded, Floydada’s Brett Brittain drew the walk to score the Whirlwinds’ first run of the game.
Lockney’s pitcher, Dyllan Thiebaud, would get the Longhorns out of the bases-loaded jam with two strikeouts to claim victory over the Whirlwinds 5-1.
Thiebaud pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit and recording 15 strikeouts in the victory on Tuesday.
