Don Wayne Payne was suddenly called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2023.  A Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada, with Mason Wilks officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel.

Don lived in Floydada all of his life. He was a hard worker.  His first job was shining shoes.  From there, he worked at Arwine Drug Store and Parker Furniture.  He then started his own business – Payne Appliance.  He was also a custodian at the First National Bank.  Don and Velma married on May 15, 1993. Don was a faithful longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Floydada and served as an usher.  He will be greatly missed by his family, his church, and the community.

He is preceded in death by his father, H.D. Payne, and his mother, Mary Lee Warren; his son, Tommy Wayne Payne; his sister, Diane Branham; and a brother, Robert Payne.

He is survived by his loving wife, Velma Payne; a son, David Lee Payne of Slaton; three step-children, Kenneth Davis of Killeen, Texas, Josh Price of San Antonio, Texas, and Nicole Franklin of Tampa, Florida; and a sister, Kristi Henderson of Floydada.
