FLOYDADA, TX – A couple of large expenditures are facing Floyd County Commissioners as they prepare to write their 2024 Fiscal Year (FY24) budget next month.

The Courthouse and AgriLife Building need new roofs at an expected cost of $500,000.

Also, the State Legislature has approved three software providers for case management systems, which serve the County Attorney, District Attorney, County Clerk, District Clerk, and Courts. Although funds were set aside at the state level to help counties with less than 20,000 people, the money ran out before all eligible counties collected their share. Therefore, Floyd County is on the hook for a new system to the tune of $300,000 – and an annual maintenance fee of almost $90,000.

Commissioners will meet on July 10, 2023, for a workshop and are expected to approve the new FY24 proposed budget at their next meeting on July 28, 2023.
