There’s a song from the group Midland where the lyrics claim, “The night knows the truth, but the sunrise tells the story.”
It’s a catchy tune, and the extended-length video features a celebrity from Canyon, Texas – Blair Garner – as a retiring General.
Though not a song or story we’d normally talk about in church circles, it is quite accurate.
Many of our darkest days – those filled with mental pain and suffering – are like the night and may find us ready to give up.
However, the sun always rises: not just on a new day, but in life’s challenges (an illness, broken relationship, loss of a loved one, or mental anguish).
We can see two very good examples in the Bible: the first describes how as the sun rose in Egypt, the Israelites were allowed to leave their slavery, and in the New Testament, when Mary finds an open tomb three days after the death of Jesus.
Know one else will probably know or appreciate the “truth” of your suffering, but never forget to let the sunrise “tell the story.”
