Donald " Cowboy" Lemmie Wiley (Floydada)

Donald “Cowboy” Wiley, 85, of Floydada, TX passed away on October 21, 2023, in Floydada, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Floydada.

Cowboy was born on January 1, 1938, to Lemmie Sr and Rosie Wiley in Rule, TX. Cowboy and his family later moved from Rule to Floydada, TX. He married Sandra “Sandy” Powell on July 15, 1984, and was married for 39 years.

Cowboy was an active member of the Floydada Fire Department for more than 50 years and was an active member of the PFFMA and the state firemen association as Sergeant at Arms. He served as an instructor for the Texas A&M University Fire School for more than 30 years as well as an instructor for the fire training classes in the surrounding areas.

Cowboy was a man who was loved in the community by many people. He worked at Floydada Livestock Auction for many years and later for the city of Floydada as the animal control officer. He loved spending time with his family fishing, riding horses, and being around his grandchildren.

Cowboy is survived by his sons, Chris Wiley (Bri), Donald Ray Brown, Charlies Roy Brown, Jimmy Charles Brown, James Daniel Brown, his daughters Angela Wiley and Janice Lousie Brown, his brother Jimmy Wiley, sisters Ronell Wiley, Catherine Williams and Virgie Nell Moore.

Cowboy is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Sandra; his parents Lemmie and Rosie Wiley; brothers Lemmitte Wiley and Ronald Wiley; and sisters Willie Mae Wiley and Lennie Vee Taylor.
