SUDAN, TX – The Floydada Lady Winds traveled to Sudan on Friday to battle the Nettes in a district matchup.
Floydada was able to start the game with a 12-7 lead after the first quarter.
Sudan fought back in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Winds 25-11, taking a 32-23 halftime lead.
The Lady Winds made their way back into the game in the third quarter and cut the Nettes’ lead to 49-46.
In a back-and-forth fourth quarter, Floydada’s Zay Santos went to the line with 6.4 seconds left in the game and made two free throws to put the Lady Winds up by one.
The Nettes’ drove the ball down with a chance to win; however, Floydada’s Callie Brittain made a game-winning block to tie the ball up and secure the 66-65 victory.
The Lady Winds were led in scoring by junior Katelynn Ramirez, who had 26 points and 6 rebounds.
Seniors Zay Santos (5 rebounds) and Sierra Snowden (14 rebounds) also contributed to the scoring on Friday with 13 points each.
Floydada moves to 9-0 in district play and will host New Deal on Tuesday.
