NEW DEAL, TX – The Lockney Longhorns went on the road Friday as they matched up against the New Deal Lions in a district game.
Both teams went back and forth in the first quarter, with the Lions gaining the upper hand and taking a 16-14 lead at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter would prove to be the turning point in the game as New Deal outscored Lockney 20-8, going into halftime with the Lions up 36-22.
The Longhorns fought back in the second half but fell short to the Lions 75-61.
Lockney was led in scoring by Nathan Hernandez, who had 19 points and five rebounds.
Also contributing to the scoring was Dahlen Silva, who had 17 points and 7 rebounds in the loss on Friday.
