LOCKNEY, TX – The Floyd County teams were in action on Friday as the Lockney Longhorns hosted the #11-ranked Floydada Whirlwinds.
The Whirlwinds were able to start the game with a 25-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Despite outscoring the Whirlwinds 20-18 in the second quarter, the Longhorns would go into halftime trailing 43-35.
Both teams would make runs offensively in the second half, however, the Whirlwinds would secure the district victory over Lockney 82-62.
Floydada’s Aiden Trevino secured his 1,000th career point in Friday’s victory with 16 points total in the game.
The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by Ty Henderson who had 22 points and 4 rebounds.
The Longhorns were led in scoring by senior Nathan Hernandez who had 16 points and 3 rebounds.
Floydada moves to 8-1 in district play, while Lockney falls to 3-6.
