FLOYDADA, TX – The #11-ranked Floydada Whirlwinds hosted the Smyer Bobcats in a district game on Tuesday.
Floydada was able to apply pressure early on and led 17-9 after the first quarter.
The Whirlwinds picked up the pace of play in the second quarter and created points off of multiple Bobcat turnovers to take a 47-14 lead going into halftime.
Floydada would secure the game in the second half as their defense held Smyer to only 18 points in the two quarters and would get the 83-32 win on Tuesday.
Floydada’s junior Braun Hobbs led the team in scoring with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Also contributing to the win on Tuesday was junior Sergio Valadez, who had 16 points and 4 rebounds.
The Whirlwinds move to 21-7 overall and 9-1 in the district.
