Jerry Galloway (Floydada)

Jerry Glenn Galloway, age 85, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Beehive Assisted Living in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 2, at the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada, Texas, with Pastor Ronnie Hedges officiating.

Jerry was born July 1, 1938, in Floyd County to Henry and Maggie (McCracken) Galloway. He married Winola Neff on February 16, 1962, in Floydada, Texas. They were blessed with almost 62 years of marriage. Jerry graduated from Atoka High School, Atoka, Oklahoma, in 1956. He served in the US Air Force from 1956-1960. He worked for the City of Floydada at the electrical plant. He worked for Southwestern Public Service as a plant operator for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He then worked for the Floydada School System as a crossing guard until his second retirement in January 2022. He was a long-time member of the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department. Jerry never met a stranger and enjoyed telling stories and jokes. He was well known for his 1964 El Camino. Heaven has gained a comedian who drives an El Camino.

Family meant the world to Jerry; he was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Connie Galloway, and a grandson, Brandon Lee.

His wife, Winola, survives Jerry. His two daughters are Sherry and her husband Gary Vick of Floydada and Tammi and Johnny Lee of Lubbock. His granddaughters are Maggie and her husband, Nick Brown of Canyon, Texas, and Katie Lee of Lubbock. His great-grandchildren are Wyatt, Colin, and Kaitlin Brown of Canyon.
