CHILDRESS, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds were matched up against the Wheeler Mustangs on Friday in the Area round of the playoffs.
The Whirlwinds started the game with a 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams went back and forth in the second quarter; however, Floydada continued to lead, going into halftime up 40-29.
The Whirlwinds would maintain their pressure throughout the second half, securing the victory 86-75.
Floydada was led in scoring by junior Ty Henderson, who had 23 points.
Also contributing to the win on Friday were juniors Sergio Valadez and Braun Hobbs, who both had 19 points.
Floydada will advance to play the Farwell Steers in the Regional Quarterfinal on Tuesday in Lubbock.
