FLOYDADA, TX – Friday marks the end of an era as a bank that’s been open for more than four decades on Wall Street closes its doors for a final time.
On December 15, 2023, Centennial Bank announced the permanent closing of its Happy State Bank location on the courthouse square (105 South Wall St.).
Though the bank has been under different names and ownership, the location has remained open to serving Floydada residents.
In a letter, Scott Lewis, EVP, and Regional President outlined that all accounts would be automatically transferred to the branch in Lockney but provided no explanation for the closure. Centennial has yet to respond to requests about whether the company will retain current employees in Floydada or what the fate of the building will be.
