MUNCY, TX – Residents of Lockney, Floydada, and surrounding communities came together on Saturday to raise $78,000 for the Floyd County Friends through their 28th Annual Benefit Gala.
The event raised funds to operate and maintain the Unity Center. It initially started to raise money to build a multi-purpose facility for Floyd County. Today, it still operates without tax funding and is led by volunteers from across the county.
The 600 people in attendance represent a sold-out event, as there is a waiting list for those wanting to attend next year.
The Gala concluded on Saturday evening with Jason Boland & The Stragglers, a Texas/Red Dirt Country Band making their first appearance in Floyd County since 2010.
