FLOYDADA, TX – Floyd County Commissioners met on Monday and welcomed the county’s newest Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent.

Ashleigh Hillemeyer will not be replacing an existing agent. Instead, she’ll be the third in Floyd County and tasked with coordinating the 4-H program in the schools while supporting the traditional 4-H county program.

“This is a very unique position,” explains Mark Carroll, County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources. We (Floyd County) are the only county that has a 4-H position that specifically has a 4-H agent assigned to support the school programs and the traditional program.” Fifty percent of Hillemeyer’s position will involve school programming and support.

Floyd County Judge Marty Lucke said the county is recognized as a leader in 4-H, especially in District 2.

Hillemeyer grew up in Crane County (Texas), received a BS in Agriculture Education from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, and is the ag science and cheer coach at Lockney ISD.

She will start her new position on June 10, 2024, working alongside Carroll and Natalie Snowden, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent, Family & Community Health.
