Longhorns Hit Walk-Off to Win District Thriller

LOCKNEY, TX – The “Floyd County Series” began on Tuesday night as the Floydada Whirlwinds traveled to Lockney to battle the Longhorns in a district matchup.

The Longhorns would get the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning to go up 2-0.

Lockney was able to extend their lead 4-0 after scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Whirlwinds rallied late, scoring one run in the sixth inning and three in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lockney’s Haygen Lefevre hit the game winning double to secure the 5-4 victory over the Whirlwinds.

Floydada falls to 3-14 overall and 2-7 in district play.

The Longhorns improve to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in district play.
