Holcombe Adds Oscar Strahan Award to His Collection

CANYON, TX – Luke Holcombe, a former Floydada Whirlwind graduate, is throwing shot put, hammer throw, and discus at West Texas A&M University and was awarded with the Oscar Strahan Award as a result of his performance at the Lonestar Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

The Oscar Strahan Award is awarded to the most outstanding male athlete and is chosen in the postseason by the league office.

Holcombe was the highest point scorer (22) after winning the shot put (16.94m), bronze in the hammer throw (53.43m), and discus (49.47m).

Luke was also selected as first team all conference with his performance last week.

WTAMU also claimed the 2024 Lonestar Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
