AMARILLO, TX– The Floydada Whirlwinds ran into a tough Sunray squad in Game One of the Bi-District playoff series Thursday afternoon at Hodgetown, falling 12-2 in six innings.

Despite a few bright spots, including RBI efforts in the second and fourth innings, Floydada struggled to keep pace with Sunray’s hot bats and aggressive base running. The Whirlwinds picked up three hits on the day but were plagued by seven defensive errors that helped fuel Sunray’s scoring.

Floydada scored its first run in the bottom of the second to cut the early deficit, but Sunray answered quickly, extending its lead with a 4-run second inning of their own. The Whirlwinds tacked on another run in the fourth, but couldn’t string together a rally as the Bobcats pulled away late.

With the loss, Floydada now looks to bounce back quickly in Game Two, set to begin approximately 30 minutes after the end of Game One.

Fans can follow the action live on 106.1 FLiP-FM as the Whirlwinds fight to force a decisive Game Three.

Final Score – Game One:
Sunray 12, Floydada 2
Hits: Floydada 3, Sunray 10
Errors: Floydada 7, Sunray 1
