FLOYD COUNTY, TX – Floyd County is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of three local 4-H members—Sydni Chesshir, Mia Snowden, and Kaileigh Cook—who have each been awarded a $20,000 Texas 4-H Foundation Opportunity Scholarship. These scholarships honor their commitment to leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence through 4-H.
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, an email announcing the recipients of the Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarships was sent out. Floyd County Extension Agents Ashleigh Hillemeyer, Natalie Snowden, and Office Manager Kristy Lefevre were ready and excited to surprise the recipients. Each girl was caught off guard and overjoyed by the heartfelt midweek surprise.
Mia Snowden and Sydni Chesshir were awarded the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo/Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship, while Kaileigh Cook earned the San Antonio Livestock Exposition/Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship. These competitive awards are among the most prestigious in the Texas 4-H program and are given to a select group of youth across the state.
Each of these Floyd County recipients will be formally honored at Texas 4-H Round-Up in June, where they will attend a scholarship banquet and have the opportunity to walk the stage during the evening assembly.
Recipients of the Texas 4-H Foundation Opportunity Scholarship are selected based on their academic achievements, leadership skills, involvement in 4-H, financial need, and a formal interview process conducted in College Station.
The accomplishments of Mia, Kaileigh, and Sydni are a shining reflection of the strength and impact of Floyd County’s 4-H program. Their success is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for their families, community, and the entire Texas 4-H family.
