SEMINOLE, TX—The Floydada Lady Winds punched their ticket to the Regional Final for the first time in school history after a hard-fought 6–4 victory over the Colorado City Lady Wolves in Game 3 of the Regional Semifinal series on Saturday.
The deciding game was a true test of grit and determination, as the Lady Winds overcame an early 1–0 deficit and erupted for five runs in the third inning to take control of the contest. The offensive surge was backed by a 12-hit performance, showing the team’s depth and resilience at the plate.
Despite committing four errors, Floydada’s defense held strong in the late innings to preserve the lead, stranding several Colorado City runners in scoring position. Colorado City countered with 10 hits of their own and narrowed the gap to just two runs in the fifth inning, but the Lady Winds stayed composed and shut the door in the final frames.
This win marks a monumental moment for Floydada’s softball program, as the team advances further into the playoffs than ever before. The Lady Winds’ journey continues next week in the Regional Final, where they will look to carry their momentum and continue making history.
