FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
April 3rd, a deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of NE 2nd Street in Lockney regarding some damaged property. The complainant reported that someone had attempted to gain entry into their property garage.
April 3rd, a search warrant was executed in the 400 block of North 1st Street, in connection with a narcotics investigation. Enriquez Ybarra, 39, of Floydada, was arrested for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
April 4th, a deputy received a call regarding several juveniles making threats to each other while walking around town. This case was referred over to the Juvenile Probation Department.
On April 8th, a 64-year-old man reported that he had been scammed after receiving and depositing a $4,410 check that was later identified as fraudulent. The complainant stated that he had sent $3,410 to an individual known as Betty Jean De Costa of Massachusetts and retained $1,000 for work done at a job site.
April 12th, a deputy performed a traffic stop on a tan 2006 Chevrolet Silverado due to a traffic violation. The deputy initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle after detecting an odor of marijuana coming from it. The deputy located a vape pen that contained THC. Damion Guzman Perez, 20, of Floydada, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2 < 1g.
April 12th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a white BMW on 2nd Street for a traffic violation. The deputy initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle after detecting an odor of marijuana. The deputy located a vape pen that contained THC. Alvin Ray Cooper, 57, of Floydada, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2=>1g<4g.
April 14th, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from Western Equipment stating that someone had stolen a 2025 John Deere Gator, valued at $46,000.00, from their Floydada Store location. It was reported that the vehicle was last seen on the property on March 22nd.
April 18th, a deputy was dispatched to 300 W Washington Street regarding a theft. The Complainant reported that a new iPhone had been ordered and had received notification that the item had been delivered. When they arrived home, they noticed that the package had been opened and the iPhone was missing. The iPhone was valued at $1,500. This case is still under investigation.
April 19th, a deputy was dispatched to W. J. Mangold Hospital about a sexual assault. This case is still under investigation.
April 24th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Main Street in Lockney for a traffic violation. The deputies requested the driver to exit the vehicle, at which time he became belligerent and refused to follow their instructions. The driver was restrained, at which time deputies located a methamphetamine pipe. Francisco Ascencio of Lockney was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG1< 1-gram X2.
