LOCKNEY, TX – A recent school board meeting was conducted in accordance with Government Code 551 and adhered to the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The meeting venue ensured accessibility for all attendees, including wheelchair access and designated handicapped parking.
The session began with the establishment of a quorum and was formally called to order. An invocation was held before the meeting moved into the public forum, providing community members an opportunity to speak.
During the recognitions segment, the board honored Bryson Klein for qualifying at the state level in the UIL Science competition, as well as Nathan Vasquez, who achieved state-level qualification in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE).
A reorganization of the board followed, reflecting internal adjustments and leadership realignment. The board then reviewed and approved the minutes from the previous meeting and authorized payment of current bills. A financial report was presented, offering updates on the district’s fiscal status.
The board considered and approved several budget amendments. These included:
Amendment 423A1, pertaining to the allocation of federal funds.
Amendment 507A1, which covered expenses for new Bridge Band uniforms.
Amendment 508A1, related to Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designation payouts.
In personnel matters, the board affirmed the hiring of new staff members and accepted recent resignations.
The superintendent delivered a report covering a range of topics, including preliminary property value estimates and ongoing safety concerns within the district. The report also addressed upcoming training for board and superintendent transitions, as well as plans for board members to attend the TASB Convention in Houston, scheduled for September 12–13, with travel on September 11.
