LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney community is coming together in support of 13-year-old Adrian Pedroza, an incoming freshman at Lockney High School who was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a fast-moving cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Adrian, a bright and energetic teen, was looking forward to starting high school this fall. He’s known for his love of band, athletics, and video games, and his upbeat personality has left a mark on many around him. His diagnosis came suddenly and has deeply impacted his family and friends—but the outpouring of support has been immediate and heartfelt.
Tragically, the timing of Adrian’s diagnosis has compounded the family’s challenges. Just one day before he was scheduled to receive health insurance coverage, his condition worsened, making him ineligible for the plan the family had been relying on.
He is currently being treated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where doctors are working tirelessly to bring his dangerously elevated white blood cell count—reported at over 200,000—down to safer levels. Adrian is undergoing multiple daily blood filtration procedures and will soon begin an intensive chemotherapy regimen.
In light of these overwhelming medical needs, Adrian’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of treatment, travel, and other expenses. They are encouraging anyone who is able and willing to contribute to support Adrian’s fight.
“We are incredibly thankful for every prayer, every kind message, and every donation,” the family shared. “Your support means more to us than words can express.”
The Lockney community has already begun to rally around Adrian, offering everything from donations and emotional support to shared stories and well-wishes.
