
Floyd County represented at Texas 4-H Roundup
COLLEGE STATION, TX – The Texas 4-H Roundup, held annually in College Station on the campus of Texas A&M University, is the capstone event for 4-H members across the state. It marks the culmination of a year’s worth of dedication, learning, and achievement in various 4-H projects and competitions. This year, several senior members from Floyd County proudly represented their community during the week of June 1st, showcasing their talents, leadership, and hard work.
The week began in Victoria, Texas, where the Floyd County 4-H Rifle Team—comprised of Sydni Chesshir, Emma Nelson, Peyton Noland, and Payten Shuping—competed with focus and precision in shooting sports.
In College Station, events took place daily with Floyd County youth participating in a wide variety of contests. Sydni Chesshir had a standout week, placing 4th in Educational Presentation – Sheep and Goat, and also competing in Consumer Decision Making. She was additionally recognized as a 4-H Foundation Scholar for her commitment to excellence in 4-H and academics.
On June 4th, Kirsten Pyle, Mia Snowden, and Kaileigh Cook competed in the highly competitive 4-H State Food Challenge Event, demonstrating their culinary knowledge, teamwork, and creativity. That same day, the Talent Showcase Variety Show Team took the stage with a performance full of energy and enthusiasm. Team members included Adrian Jimenez, Lily Jimenez, JT Snowden, Nick Cervantes, Haygen Lefevre, and Brinley Lefevre.
The momentum continued on June 5th as the Floyd County Skit Team delivered an outstanding performance that earned them 3rd place overall. Their efforts were celebrated with the honor of walking the big stage at Reed Arena—an unforgettable moment for the team and their supporters. Led by Kristy Lefevre, the team included JT Snowden, Haygen Lefevre, Nick Cervantes, Adrian Jimenez, Kaileigh Cook, Brinley Lefevre, Lily Jimenez, Kirsten Pyle, and Mia Snowden.
As the week came to a close, three young women from Floyd County were honored in a truly special way. Sydni Chesshir and Mia Snowden were each awarded the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship in the amount of $20,000 and were recognized during Thursday night’s banquet. Kaileigh Cook was awarded the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship, also for $20,000, and was honored at a banquet on Wednesday evening. All three were invited to walk the state stage in recognition of their remarkable achievements as 4-H Foundation Scholars.
Texas 4-H Roundup is more than a competition—it’s a time for youth to grow, give back, and connect with peers from across the state. For the Floyd County 4-H members, it was a week of celebration, pride, and unforgettable memories that highlight the spirit and impact of 4-H.
