Floyd County Commissioners Honor Local 4-H Members and Scholarship Recipients

FLOYD COUNTY, TX – During their regular meeting on Monday, July 14, 2025, the Floyd County Commissioners Court took time to recognize the outstanding achievements of local 4-H youth who recently competed at the Texas State 4-H Roundup. The young participants represented Floyd County with pride, bringing home several awards from the prestigious statewide competition.

In addition to celebrating competition success, the court also honored three exceptional young women who each received a $20,000 scholarship from the Texas 4-H Foundation. These scholarships reflect years of dedication, leadership, and service through the 4-H program. The recipients—Mia Snowden, Sydni Chessir, and Kaileigh Cook—were all commended for their achievements and encouraged as they prepare to begin their college journeys. Mia will be attending Midwestern State University, Sydni plans to enroll at West Texas A&M University, and Kaileigh will be continuing her education at Clarendon College.

Also recognized at the meeting were Ella Olliver, John Taylor Snowden, Brinley Lefevre, and Haygen Lefevre for their notable accomplishments at the state level. Their hard work and determination highlight the strength of Floyd County’s youth programs and the positive impact of 4-H in the community.

The Floyd County Commissioners Court continues to show unwavering support for the county’s 4-H program, celebrating not only the achievements of its members but also investing in the future of its young leaders.
