FLOYDADA, TX – Dr. Gilbert Trevino, Superintendent of Floydada ISD, has personally launched an inspiring new initiative aimed at helping local families overcome financial barriers to youth sports participation.
The program, called PLAY (Parent League Aid for Youth), is an independent effort by Dr. Trevino and is not affiliated with the Floydada school district.
“If you recall this announcement from a few days ago,” Dr. Trevino shared on Facebook, “I decided to create a program called PLAY (Parent League Aid for Youth) where we help single parents who need financial assistance pay for youth sports registration fees. This program will help qualified parents avoid the financial burden of trying to pay for youth sports registration fees while trying to budget for other expenses that pose financial challenges during periods when local youth sports have sign-ups.”
The PLAY Program has officially been established as a nonprofit organization with its own Tax ID number, entirely separate from Floydada ISD.
How to Donate:
An account has been set up at Prosperity Bank, located at 217 W California Street.
Contributions can be made to: Floydada PLAY Program.
Dr. Trevino is encouraging others in the community to join him in supporting this cause:
“I’d like to challenge others to make donations to this program that will support kids in our community! We have some that have committed to donating $10–$20 per month! Thank you!”
The PLAY Program represents a personal commitment from Dr. Trevino to give back to the community by helping ensure all children—regardless of financial situation—have the opportunity to participate in local youth sports and enjoy the many benefits that come with being part of a team.
