LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney Longhorn Band is officially kicking off its 2025 marching season with the start of required Summer Band beginning Monday, July 28. Rehearsals will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday, for two consecutive weeks, taking place at the High School Band Hall and the newly upgraded practice lot.
Excitement is in the air as the band enters the new season fully equipped and ready for action. Members will benefit from a variety of new and improved resources, including a new practice lot, freshly organized prop storage, and detailed show drill layouts already marked and ready. Color guard uniforms have arrived, drum wraps matching this year’s theme have been installed, and the highly anticipated show art and shirts are ready for distribution.
Students who pre-ordered their official band shirts will find them in their lockers, while extras are available for purchase through the booster club for $25 each. Front ensemble shirts are also in, completing the uniform lineup for the entire group. All instruments have been professionally cleaned, serviced, and checked out to members in advance of the first practice.
Lockney’s band program continues to aim high with “champion level” equipment, music, drill, and instruction. With two previous state appearances under its belt, the band is focused on building another memorable and successful season.
To ensure a smooth and productive start, all students are required to bring a water bottle, lace-up athletic shoes (no Crocs or sandals), a hat, and sunscreen. Marching shoes—Black Drillmasters or Super Drillmasters—are mandatory for performances and should be secured ahead of time.
The foundation of this year’s show, including audio and video animations, has been posted on the band’s SportsYou page for students to review. As the Lockney Longhorn Band enters summer training, the stage is set for what promises to be a historic season full of energy, growth, and Longhorn pride.
