LOCKNEY, TX — The Lockney General Hospital District board met recently to review operations and financial performance for June, with CEO Vince DiFranco reporting increased patient volumes and significant milestones for the facility.

The Lockney Clinic logged 720 visits last month, including 43 new patients, while the Silverton Clinic saw 182 visits. Hospital services included 6 acute admissions, 10 observation patients, and 170 ER visits. Ancillary services remained active, with the lab completing 3,074 tests and radiology reporting 243 exams. Physical therapy tallied 356 visits, and the pain management team performed 7 of the 13 total procedures in June.

DiFranco announced that Dr. Alson will begin work on August 7 as a full-time ER physician and hospitalist, with plans to cover at least 10 shifts per month. The district is continuing its search for an additional emergency provider.

The hospital was also awarded a prestigious 5-star rating from the National Rural Rating System, recognizing excellence in rural inpatient care based on patient surveys from the past year. In another development, Mangold Memorial Hospital has agreed to prepare meals for the local Meals-on-Wheels program, with a three-month cost review planned.

June’s financial report showed gross revenue of $1.47 million, up from $1.22 million a year ago but below budget. After adjustments, expenses, and grants, the month closed with a net loss of $231,013, bringing the year-to-date loss to just $25,032 — a modest figure for the district’s fiscal standing.

Representatives from the Rural Hospital Stabilization Program also visited in July, offering guidance on financial assessments, service expansion, and marketing support through the grant program.
