LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney ISD Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Building Board Room at 601 Poplar Street. The meeting was conducted in compliance with state law and accessibility standards, ensuring the public’s right to attend and participate.
The evening began with the establishment of a quorum, followed by an invocation. One of the key items on the agenda was a public hearing on the proposed budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, including the proposed Maintenance and Operations Tax as well as the Interest and Sinking Tax. This allowed community members the opportunity to provide input before the board took action.
Board members then moved forward with approving minutes from previous meetings, considering district financial reports, and reviewing payments of Lockney ISD bills. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to budgetary matters, with trustees voting on the adoption of the district’s 2025–2026 budget. The board also approved resolutions setting the Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate and the Interest and Sinking Tax Rate for the new fiscal year.
In addition to budget discussions, trustees considered and approved several updates to local policies, including EFB, FD, FM, FNCE, and EIC. Another important action item was the approval of the creation of a School Library Advisory Council (SLAC), which will support the district’s efforts in strengthening resources and services for students.
The board also addressed professional development needs by approving the Lockney ISD Professional Development Clearinghouse. Transportation needs were reviewed as well, with the board approving a lease proposal for a 2023 40-passenger bus from A to Z Bus Sales and considering proposals to purchase a 2025 2500 diesel pickup truck.
The superintendent’s report provided updates on A–F accountability ratings, upcoming district activities, and scheduling of the next board meeting.
The meeting concluded with adjournment following the completion of the agenda.
