FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds kicked off their 2025 season at home on Friday night, taking on the Tulia Hornets.
Tulia jumped out to a fast start, building a 22–0 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 38–0 by halftime.
The Whirlwinds continued to battle in the second half, putting points on the board with an 8-point third quarter and a late touchdown in the fourth, but the Hornets held on for a 46–14 win.
Despite the loss, Floydada showed resilience and found offensive rhythm as the game progressed.
The Whirlwinds will now turn their attention to a rivalry matchup on the road against Lockney this Friday.
