FLOYDADA, TX — The Floydada Volunteer Fire Department responded to eight calls during August 2025, ranging from structure fires and vehicle accidents to mutual aid and weather-dampened grass fires.

The month began with a stove fire reported at a residence on West Virginia Street on August 9. Firefighters also responded to multiple grass fire calls throughout the month, including incidents south of Silverton and Dougherty, as well as east on US 70 — though several were canceled en route due to rain extinguishing the flames.

On August 15, crews responded to two separate incidents: a two-vehicle accident at Missouri and Texas streets in the morning, and a gas leak on West Hallie that evening. Later in the month, firefighters contained a small grass fire south of town on the Ralls highway and extinguished a dumpster fire on East Missouri on August 28.

Despite several canceled runs, the department remained prepared and responsive throughout the month, continuing its commitment to protecting the Floydada area.
