FLOYDADA, TX — The Floyd County Commissioners Court met Monday, September 8, approving the 2025 property tax rate and designating a reinvestment zone for a proposed renewable energy project.
Following a public tax hearing, commissioners unanimously adopted a 2025 property tax rate of $0.7121 per $100 valuation, representing a 3.49% effective increase over the previous year. The court also held a separate public hearing to establish the Wake Wind Energy Reinvestment Zone, later approving the zone designation and boundaries under Chapter 312 of the Texas Tax Code.
In other business, commissioners approved a $72-per-day interlocal agreement with Garza County for prisoner housing and ratified several recent actions by County Judge Marty Lucke, including:
Applying for Senate Bill 22 grant funds
Renewing a partnership with SPCAA
Maintaining current TAC fee structures
The court also approved a landfill use agreement with the City of Floydada and received updates from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. While the meeting included a discussion on a potential tax abatement agreement with Wake Wind Energy LLC, no action was taken.
The session concluded with a presentation by Conner Dean of CTSI and adjourned at 9:01 a.m.
