Floydada School Board Honors Top Students, Reviews Finances

FLOYDADA — The Floydada Collegiate ISD school board met Tuesday night and recognized a slate of outstanding students and staff while also reviewing finances and upcoming initiatives.

During the meeting, trustees honored several Students and Educators of the Month. From AB Duncan Elementary, Sophia Picaso and Rogelio Menderano, both fifth graders, were named Students of the Month, and Bailey Nutt was selected as Support Staff of the Month. On the junior high and high school campuses, Sebastian Salazar and Braelynn Snikhorn were recognized as FJHS Students of the Month. At FHS, seniors Katie Landon and Isabel Johnston earned Student of the Month honors, while Matthew Strickland was named Educator of the Month.

Board members also reviewed the August 2025 bills and approved an amendment to the 2025–2026 budget. Several annual waivers were adopted, including one for a modified schedule on state testing days and another for P-TECH Year 13–14 students taking dual-credit college courses. The board approved the district’s audit agreement with Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert, & Moss, L.L.P.

Reports were also given on tax collections and administrative updates, with a preview of potential future agenda items to come.
