FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

August 2nd, a deputy stopped a 2018 Chevy Silverado on US 70 near FM 2883 for failing to stay in a single lane. During the investigation, the driver was found to be intoxicated. Kyler Pendergrass, 24, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

August 2nd, the deputy responded to the 700 block of East Shurbet in the City of Lockney concerning a dispute over unpaid automotive repairs.

August 4th, the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a break-in in the 2500 block of US 62/TX207 that happened the week before. Complainant reported tools missing. This case is still under investigation.

August 5th, deputies responded to the 500 block of West Willow Street regarding a person harassing another while driving through residential streets. When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, which was harassing the caller, it fled, throwing some drug paraphernalia out of the window as it sped away. The suspect eventually stopped in the 300 block of SW 7th Street, where the driver, Sean Rendon, 21, of Lockney, was arrested for evading arrest with a motor vehicle and tampering with physical evidence.

August 16th, a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the City of Lockney regarding a sexual assault of a child. The case is under investigation.

August 19th, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that a Generac GP6500 generator had been stolen from the 700 block of FM 54. The complainant also reported that the generator was not working.

On August 22nd, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Ford Focus for traveling 92 mph in a 75-mph zone. When the deputy tried to get the driver’s information, the driver gave a false name because he had a warrant from Hidalgo County. Adam Salazar, 38, of Crosbyton, Texas, was arrested for Failure to identify as a fugitive and refusing to give information.

August 22nd, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on US 70 when the driver of a 2013 Ford F-150 was failing to maintain a single lane and then almost collided with the deputy. Upon further investigation, the driver, Javier Castillo, 62, of Plainview, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more.

August 23rd, while Sheriff’s deputies and Floydada Police were out on a traffic stop in the 200 block of South 2nd Street, an elderly woman interfered with the officers’ traffic stop. She refused to obey the officers’ orders to leave the scene. The suspect was identified as Luann Collins, 71, of Floydada, Texas. This case has been forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

August 23rd, deputies were informed that a male Hispanic juvenile was driving a black Charger with a firearm. Later that evening, deputies and the State Park Police found the vehicle on South Main Street in Lockney. The officer stopped the car in the 300 block of East Poplar Street, where the sixteen-year-old juvenile was taken into custody for an active juvenile warrant. No firearms were found during the traffic stop.

August 24th, a deputy took a report of credit card abuse in the 400 block of SW 6th Street, where the complainant told the deputy that her ex-boyfriend had taken her debit card without permission and withdrew $100 from her account. The case remains under investigation.

On August 28th, the deputy responded to the 200 block of W Locust Street regarding an assault that had already occurred. The complainant reported that two individuals approached him, demanding property that belonged to his ex-girlfriend. The complainant then retreated into his home. The suspects forced their way inside, assaulted the complainant, and left without taking any property. This case is still under investigation.

August 31st, a deputy attempted to stop a 2015 Ford F150 for speeding on the Ralls Highway. The driver drove approximately nine blocks before stopping at Allsup’s on Houston Street. During the traffic stop, Davis Arreola, 23, of Floydada, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

On August 31st, the deputy stopped a 2015 Nissan Armada for traveling at 100 mph in a 75-mph zone. While speaking with the driver, it was clear that he was under the influence of alcohol. Upon further investigation, Eric Davila, 33, of Lockney, was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a BAC>0.15.

On August 31st, a deputy was dispatched to County Road 217 and County Road 150 regarding a cow that the owner helper believed to have been shot off the roadway. It was later determined that the cow was struck by lightning.
