LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney Independent School District Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Building Board Room at 601 Poplar Street.
The evening began with the establishment of a quorum, followed by an invocation to open the session. Trustees then moved into the public forum portion of the agenda, allowing time for community members to share comments with the board. Afterward, the minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and approved to maintain accurate records of district business.
Financial items made up a significant portion of the discussion. The board approved the payment of bills and received the district’s monthly financial report, which provided an overview of expenditures and current budget standings. Trustees also considered and approved budget amendments designed to keep district operations aligned with financial needs throughout the school year.
A closed session was held where trustees discussed matters related to district safety and security. While no votes are taken during a closed session, the discussion allowed the board to review important information before any future action is considered in open session.
In other business, the board approved the T-TESS calendar and appraisers for the 2025–2026 school year, ensuring that teacher evaluations are scheduled and properly overseen. Trustees also authorized the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet 2500, a decision aimed at supporting district transportation and operational needs.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of board operating procedures. This portion of the agenda gave trustees an opportunity to examine governance practices and explore ways to continue strengthening the effectiveness of board operations.
