LOCKNEY, TX – Lockney High School senior Kara Sanchez has once again shown her dedication to honoring local veterans through her heartfelt project, Freedom Bags.

Now in its second year, Kara’s initiative aims to give back to those who have served by assembling bags filled with snacks, gifts, and donated meal vouchers from area restaurants. These vouchers ensure local veterans can enjoy free meals on Veterans Day and beyond.

As the daughter of a veteran, Kara understands the challenges that many who serve face. Her compassion and determination have made the Freedom Bags project a meaningful tradition in the Lockney community.

This year, Kara enlisted the help of Mko, a foreign exchange student, to assist in assembling the bags. Together, they worked to collect and organize donations from individuals and businesses who wanted to show appreciation for those who have served.

“Our little town may be small, but it definitely is a town that loves our veterans,” said one local supporter.

Although this is Kara’s senior year, the Freedom Bags tradition will live on. Her younger sister, Sara, plans to continue the project in the years to come—ensuring that Lockney’s veterans continue to feel remembered and appreciated.

The Lockney community extends its gratitude to Kara, Sara, and everyone who contributed to the project, as well as to the veterans whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
