FLOYDADA, TX – After more than two decades as a beloved small-town staple, Cathy’s Floral & Gifts is beginning a new chapter—one built on friendship, family, and the enduring legacy of its founder. The family of the late Cathy Graham has announced that longtime friend and shop employee Candy Edwards is officially taking ownership of the business.

For years, Cathy’s Floral & Gifts has been known not only for its fresh arrangements and heartfelt gifts, but for the warmth, laughter, and personal touch Cathy brought to every bouquet and every customer who walked through the door. After Cathy’s passing, her children stepped in to carry on the business through the seasons and holidays she loved most. As they navigated the past year, they leaned on the support of friends, longtime customers, and one another.

This week, the family shared a heartfelt message announcing the transition, expressing both their gratitude and their confidence in Candy as the one to continue what their mother began.

Family Statement

SAME NAME, SAME FACES, NEW OWNER

We would like to announce the new owner of Cathy’s Floral & Gifts, Candy Edwards. Candy has been one of Momma’s best friends since she moved to Floyd County in the 90’s and has worked alongside her for 4 years. We are overjoyed that the business will stay in our “family” and that Candy will continue mom’s legacy. We are not completely stepping away. You will still see Kalli and Amanda helping during busy times and holidays.

This is one of the hardest decisions the three of us have ever had to make and it was not made light heartedly. Momma told us when she was in the hospital to close the business and not to try to keep it going. She knew better than anyone, our tendency to bite off more than we should chew. However, we couldn’t bear to let it go and the three of us were never good at following the rules. When Momma passed, we said, let’s just make it through Mother’s Day. Here we are 8 months later. But, as always, Momma was right. We have careers and families and don’t have the ability to dedicate the time to this business that is needed. It has been a special experience for us to manage her business together and, while we knew how hard she worked, it didn’t really set in until it was us in her shoes.

We would like to thank all of you for 21 years of unwavering support of mom and for sticking with us this last year. Momma loved doing the work, but even more, she loved her customers and the relationships she built with them. Thank you to Candy for being such a wonderful friend to our Momma, keeping the business going and most of all, keeping mom’s memory alive. To Stacy & Sherry, thank you for always showing up in a moment’s notice to help and for being such loyal friends to her. Momma was blessed more than most with her circle of friends. Valentine’s Day was her last day to work. She needed to be in the hospital, but with disregard to our demands, she insisted on staying because she said it was her favorite day of the year and she wanted to spend one more with her best friends doing what she loved.

Not only did Momma put her heart and soul into this business every day, she continued to be the most loving and dedicated Mom and Nana to ever live. Momma worked our entire lives, whether it was running her arts & crafts business, Cathy’s Creations, or managing the farming operation and spraying business, but anything she did, she made sure she could do it with her children by her side. She then helped us raise our babies, a lot of time in that store, because we were always her #1. The store walls are covered in “Nana wasn’t paying attention” artwork, height charts and their drawings. Our hearts our broken to end this chapter, but also filled with excitement and joy as we see Candy carry on Mom’s dream. Mom was 49 when she bought the store and started her dream career. So, we would like to leave you with mom’s greatest advice. Never settle and never give up on your dreams. May God bless you all.

With love,
Rance, Amanda & Kalli

While ownership is changing hands, the spirit of Cathy’s Floral & Gifts remains unchanged. Candy Edwards, who worked alongside Cathy and shared a friendship that spanned decades, will continue offering the same personal touch customers have come to love. The shop will keep its name and familiar faces, honoring the tradition built over 21 years.

Community members have already expressed support and appreciation, grateful that the business will remain open and continue to serve Floyd County. For many, Cathy’s Floral & Gifts is more than a shop, it’s a place filled with memories, relationships, and the mark of a woman who poured her love into every part of her work.
