LOS ANGELES, CA – Floydada got a moment in the national spotlight this week when local broadcaster Tony Ricketts, representing RFD-TV, made an unexpected cameo on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 1st.
Kimmel kicked off his monologue with a playful jab at America’s news anchors, opening with: “Today as you probably know is December 1st, the dawn of a new month, the final month of the year has arrived. And once again, our nation’s newscasters have been caught completely by surprise.”
Sure enough, up popped Ricketts among the montage of broadcasters declaring the obvious. His moment came courtesy of a cheerful RFD-TV announcement: “December, hard to believe.” The clip drew laughs as Kimmel rolled through a lineup of anchors marveling at the arrival of the twelfth month—apparently the most shocking event on morning television.
While the segment was all in good fun, it gave Floydada viewers a reason to cheer as one of their own earned a national TV shout-out—proof that even in a town where everyone knows everyone, you never know who might show up on late-night comedy next.
