FLOYDADA, TX – As the holiday season settles in across Floydada, students from the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) are gearing up for an exciting few months filled with recruitment, classroom projects, and preparations for their upcoming state competition.
The organization, which provides students hands-on experience in the field of education, submitted their December column to highlight the opportunities available through Floydada Collegiate High School’s Education Pathway and P-Tech program. Students noted the value of earning an Associate’s degree at no cost, gaining real-world teaching experience, and building a strong foundation for future careers in education.
Below is the full, unedited column from TAFE:
December 5th, 2025
This column is written by students and teacher leaders from TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators).
“As another month passes and we enter December here in Floydada, there’s a special kind of excitement in the air—one that mixes cold mornings, Christmas lights beginning to twinkle, and the realization that a brand-new year is right around the corner. For us in the Texas Association of Future Educators, we are getting ready for recruitment!! We’re all so excited to tell people about the really great things the Education program has for them!
We have the great opportunity of being a Collegiate High School and being able to get our Associate’s degree paid for, if we are willing to do the work. The P-Tech program allows us to have employment opportunities right out of high school, learn more about the teaching field, and continue our education to earn our Bachelor’s degree. FOR NO COST!!!
For some, like myself, this is HUGE! I can follow my passion, receive a living wage, and complete my college education. All in hopes of one day becoming a teacher in the wonderful district that raised me.
Stay tuned in December and January as we begin to spotlight some of the educational materials we have created in the education program and TAFE. We will feature two each week until we go to State competition at the end of February!!
Whether it is recruitment or competition, there is ALWAYS something to celebrate in the Education Pathway at Floydada Collegiate High School!
Sincerely,
Texas Association of Future Educators”
